Selection of body and sealing material of high temperature ball valve

     High-temperature ball valves are widely used in petroleum, chemical, and electric power industries. They have a one-way sealing structure. The medium in the pipeline enters from one end. The pre-tightening force of the disc spring and the medium pressure make the sealing surface of the ball and the valve seat seal. It is characterized by reliable sealing, zero leakage, and can withstand large axial forces. It is suitable for strong corrosive media such as liquids, gases and acids, and strong abrasive media such as mud and sand.

     In order to ensure the life and quality of the high temperature ball valve, it is necessary to control the roundness of the ball and the hardness of the ball surface, and to select the material of the ball valve parts reasonably. The following are the considerations for material selection of high temperature ball valves:

     The valve body material can be selected from high-quality carbon steel (such as A105), alloy structural steel (such as A1822F22) and austenitic stainless steel (such as A1822F304, F316) according to the temperature, pressure and nature of the medium in the pipeline.

     The material of the sealing gasket should be aged hardening stainless steel with strong corrosion resistance.

     The contact surface of the valve body and the ball should be sprayed with hard chrome RAM31 or surfacing STL6, with hardness ≥45HRC.

     The stem material chooses A6382660 high temperature precipitation hardening iron-based super heat-resistant alloy. The material is resistant to high temperature and corrosion, and has good mechanical properties at high temperatures.
